What is the difference between natural and lab-grown gemstones?
While natural gemstones are formed over millions of years in the Earth's crust,lab-grown gemstones are created in a controlled laboratory environment. Both possess identical chemical, physical, and optical properties, but their origin differs.
Can you explain the 4Cs of diamonds?
The 4Cs refer to the four characteristics used to evaluate a diamond: carat (weight), color, clarity, and cut. Each of these factors contributes to a diamond's overall beauty and value.
What is a gemstone's clarity and what are the inclusions?
Clarity refers to the absence of inclusions (internal characteristics) or blemishes (external characteristics) in a gemstone. Inclusions can be natural minerals, crystals, or other imperfections.
What is diamond fluorescence and how does it affect a diamond's value?
Fluorescence is the phenomenon where a diamond emits visible light when exposed to ultraviolet radiation. Slight blue fluorescence is common and often doesn't affect a diamond's value. However, very strong fluorescence or fluorescence of other colors can sometimes impact a diamond's appearance.
How should I care for my diamond jewelry?
Diamonds are extremely durable, but they can still be damaged. To keep your diamond jewelry looking its best, avoid exposing it to harsh chemicals, extreme temperatures, and physical impacts.Clean your diamond jewelry regularly with mild soap and warm water.
Are lab grown diamonds real?
Yes, lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds. They are made of the same material as natural diamonds, which is pure carbon arranged in a crystalline structure. The only difference between lab-grown and natural diamonds is their origin. Natural diamonds are formed deep within the earth over millions of years, while lab-grown diamonds are created in a laboratory using advanced technological processes that mimic the natural conditions under which diamonds are formed.
CAN YOU TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LAB DIAMONDS AND NATURAL DIAMOND?
In most cases, it is very difficult to tell the difference between a lab-grown diamond and a natural diamond with the naked eye. Lab-grown diamonds have the same physical and chemical properties as natural diamonds, as they are made of the same material, which is pure carbon arranged in a crystalline structure. They also have the same hardness, durability, and brilliance as natural diamonds. However, there are a few subtle differences between lab-grown diamonds and natural diamonds that can be detected by experts using specialized equipment. For example, lab-grown diamonds may have different inclusions or growth patterns than natural diamonds, or they may have slightly different chemical compositions due to the differences in the growth process.
What is the Mohs hardness scale and why is it important for gemstones?
The Mohs hardness scale is a measure of a mineral's scratch resistance. A higher number on the scale indicates a harder mineral. Diamond, with a hardness of 10, is the hardest known natural substance. Hardness is an important factor to consider when selecting gemstones for jewelry, as it determines the gemstone's durability and suitability for different types of settings.
Are all of your diamonds certified?
Each one of our natural diamonds is graded by a third-party lab, such as GIA, IGI (International Gemological Laboratory International), GSI (Gemological Science International), or AGS (American Gem Society). Our lab-grown diamonds are all graded by one of the third-party labs listed above. The grading of the diamond you purchase will be printed on your certified appraisal. The appraisal will show the weight, color, and clarity of your diamond, the retail price you purchased it at, and a detailed description of your diamond.
What is the quality of your accent diamonds?
Our bridal collection accent diamonds are fully faceted, with a clarity of VS/SI for any carat weight. Having fully faceted accent diamonds means more light return because of the increase in facets.
